Friends of Hope

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much – Helen Keller

Shifting the culture of abortion in Tidewater is challenging work. There are many ideas on the best way forward, but our way is simple: change the hearts and minds one life at a time.

Real change begins at home, and every member of society has a responsibility to help each other. Caricaturing the decisions of our neighbors as heartless without offering practical support in their time of need is the worst kind of judgment.

Friends of Hope do not stand in judgment of the choices people make when faced with an unplanned pregnancy – they stand for hope by providing tangible help in a time of need.

“Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults— unless, of course, you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging. It’s easy to see a smudge on your neighbor’s face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer on your own. Do you have the nerve to say, ‘Let me wash your face for you,’ when your own face is distorted by contempt? It’s this whole traveling road-show mentality all over again, playing a holier-than-thou part instead of just living your part. Wipe that ugly sneer off your own face, and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbor. - Matthew 7:1-5 (MSG)
